Petrochemical processing requires a wide range of flows, pressures, and operating temperatures. To deal with these most difficult operations, petrochemical processors have been turning to Elliott Company for world-class solutions. For many years we have been a major turbomachinery supplier for such applications such as production of ethylene, propylene, ammonia, methanol, linear low density chemicals, polyethylene, ethylene glycol and enteline oxide.
Elliott has brought many technological advances to petrochemical processing, and has established itself solidly in these applications. For example, in ethylene plant technology, our cracked gas and refrigeration compressors are world-renowned. We have installed nearly 50 percent of the entire world supply of ethylene plant compressors. Elliott has supplied compression string installations for most of the world's largest ethylene plants and for the world's largest butadiene plant.
Cracked gas compressors and steam turbine driver in a world scale ethylene plant
With increasing demand for larger and higher-pressure steam turbines, Elliott developed a 2,000 psi double-shell steam turbine and recently shipped a mechanical-drive steam turbine rated at over 71,000 hp. This turbine configuration can be utilized to drive Elliott compressors in ethylene plant service, and is capable of up to 100,000 hp.
