There are many complex stages in refinery production of gasoline, jet fuel, fuel oils, asphalt and coke, and throughout you will find Elliott rotating machinery playing a critically important role. We serve refineries worldwide in such areas as the Middle East, Europe, South America, Asia, and North America.
Among the many applications in refineries for Elliott turbomachinery are the recovery of unsaturated gases such as light ends from the crude and coking sections and the catalytic-cracker fractionator overhead. We also supply air for catalyst circulation and regeneration in the catalytic-cracking process, and in gasoline extraction.

For many years we have been an innovator in this field. In 1980 Elliott designed, built and shipped the world's largest FCC power recovery expander (rated 35,000 hp) for a major oil refinery in the southwest USA and in 1995 shipped a power recovery string to a large refinery in the western United States. This string consisted of an Elliott 42,000 hp single-stage expander, an Elliott 34,400 hp axial compressor, an Elliott 17,100 hp steam turbine, and a 15,000 hp synchronous motor/generator.
