Cryogenic Testing Facility

State-of-the-art facility, on a scale unlike any other in the world.

In 2017, Ebara transferred its cryogenic product division in Sparks, Nevada, to Ebara Elliott Energy to leverage shared markets and customers. We set up engineering, manufacturing, and assembly operations on our Jeannette campus, and began construction of a new cryogenic product testing facility to replace the existing outdoor test facility in Sparks.

The new state-of-the-art cryogenic testing facility was dedicated in October 2021, and there is no other cryogenic testing facility of this scale anywhere in the world.

Ebara Elliott Energy’s indoor cryogenic test floor features multiple cryogenic pump test stands, and a dedicated cryogenic liquid expander test stand for year-round testing. Test loop capabilities include the ability to test several units a day, as well as units larger than currently available to meet future market growth.

Cryogenic pumps and expanders must be tested at minus 260°F in the specified cryogenic environment before installation. Testing fluids are stored in a liquid storage tank farm. The tanks include liquid nitrogen (LN2), liquefied natural gas (LNG), and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG),

Customers witness performance tests from a separate control building. Advanced instrumentation transmits real-time data from the test floor to the control room where test engineers monitor the process.
