About Elliott Company

A HISTORY OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Perhaps the most important lessons we have learned since our company was founded more than 100 years ago were to be alert to changing customer needs and to change our organization as necessary to satisfy those needs. Consider some of the many changes we have made since we started out in 1895 as the Chicago Boiler Company, a small manufacturer of boiler cleaning equipment based on the patents of William Swan Elliott.

In 1914 the company founded by William Swan Elliott moved to Jeannette, Pennsylvania.

In 1924 Elliott purchased the Kerr Turbine Company, and two years later purchased Ridgway Dynamo & Engine Co., adding turbines and compressors to its portfolio to enter the rotating machinery market as a manufacturer.

In 1941 we manufactured the first American-built diesel-engine turbocharger, which was followed by over 40,000 more in subsequent years.

The family enterprise was sold in 1957 to Carrier Corporation. In 1962 Elliott introduced the Plant Air Package (PAP®), a lightweight, three-stage centrifugal air compressor.

In 1979 Carrier Corporation became a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation, but in 1987 a management buyout of the Elliott operation returned the firm to the status of a privately-owned company.

In 1984, Elliott Support Services was formed as a total aftermarket service organization. Facilities were established in five areas of the United States. Today, there are thirteen service centers strategically located throughout the world.
